frame_inject.py declares every Win32 signature, checks each result, frees
its remote buffers and closes handles. Uninstall only accepts our folder and
UEVR's own per-game settings folders, and keeps the receipt if anything can't
be removed. The injector's reply is parsed defensively. Rechecked on a real
Frame: install, three cold starts injected (33-35 s), clean uninstall.

UEVR's .NET injector, driven with XSendEvent, injected in only 6 of 8 cold
starts on the Frame: in bad sessions every new injector ignored input or never
showed a window. start() now runs frame_inject.py under python.org's
embeddable Python (pinned SHA-256) in the game's Wine session, repeating the
frontend's own Inject steps: nullify VR plugins, load openvr_api.dll, set
Frontend_RequestedRuntime, load UEVRBackend.dll. Verified 9/9 cold starts in
33-35 s and a clean UI install/play/remove cycle. No .NET download any more
(47 MB installed instead of about 190 MB).
Also from the SWE-2 Max review: one mod action at a time (flock), a download
size cap, errors always reported as JSON, a receipt can't name another app's
prefix, 0 frames counts as an answer, and a longer server timeout for start.

Also from review: a SteamVR build without the timing exports can't break status
(AttributeError), and the device test class runs when the file is run directly.

Installed Unreal Engine games get a "VR mod" button. ui/frame_mods.py runs on
the Frame: it downloads the pinned official UEVR 1.05 release and Microsoft's
.NET 6 runtimes (hash-checked, safely unpacked) into the game's Proton prefix
with a receipt; starts the game, runs the injector in the game's own Wine
session and presses OpenVR + Inject with XSendEvent (gamescope keeps real
input on the game); confirms UEVRBackend.dll is loaded and SteamVR counts
frames; and removes exactly what it added.
Verified on a real Frame 2026-09-29 with Gravitas, through the UI: install,
four injections (three from a cold start), remove back to the pre-install
prefix listing. The headset was unworn, so the VR image, tracking and controls
are not verified. Part of #26.
