rpmalloc is currently very aggressively configured which causes
significant reductions in resident memory over jemalloc.
In Bayonetta's title screen it went from 963MB down to 834MB resident.
This is fundamentally a frontend only problem, and also Linux only.
Moves it to the frontend where it belongs.
There's likely more things in Allocator.cpp that can be moved to the
frontend but this is the first thing.
NFC
I may have gotten carried away.
- I missed some stuff for end parenthesis because I accidentally
searched within project files instead of the entire directory (so some
thunk/test/windows stuff was missed), cleaned those up.
- `INTERFACE`, `PUBLIC`, `PRIVATE`, `RUNTIME`, `LIBRARY` should be on
the same line as the target name. (I should really invest in making a
style guide...)
- Some short statements were unnecessarily split across multiple
lines--cleaned those up
- Made a common `LinkerGC` module that applies gc-sections etc. to a
target in Release mode
- Usually for functions you want to have something on the first line,
e.g. `FILES`/`DIRECTORY` for install, or the target/a positional
argument, etc etc. Not always though, notably for some custom_command
calls
TODO:
- What's with the `list(APPEND LIBS...)` stuff? It's used really
inconsistently, sometimes not at all, sometimes it looks like there're
duplicates? A more thorough cleanup is in order there.

- Do compiler/architecture checks EARLY, don't waste time doing random
configuration stuff if the user can't even compile in the first place
- MSVC is unsupported, I assume? So add a check to disallow. There's
literally no MSVC or MSC_VER checks anywhere, so...
- Rather than using the MSVC architecture definitions, use our own
`ARCHITECTURE_arm64` et al. Hijacking existing "standard" definitions
is a very bad idea. Also makes it more readable in CMake
- Change the x86 host check to `x86|amd64`. Some systems still refer to
themselves as x86 despite being 64-bit for... reasons, and I saw one a
very long time ago that referred to it as amd64. This should
basically never come up, nor is it really relevant given that FEX is
for arm64... but it kinda annoyed me so whatever.
TODOs:
- Should we check `CMAKE_SIZEOF_VOID_P (equal) 64`? I don't think anyone
is even trying to compile this thing on armv7 or older, but might as
well? maybe?
- What's the status of *BSD, Solaris, macOS? Technically macOS does
support Wine, not sure about the others.

Trivial variables like SRCS, NAME, etc. actually do more harm than good.
They *will* make your IDE mad, and are also less readable. Remember:
verbosity is not a bad thing! Usually
Also: did a few tiny cleanups that I missed from my `endpara` PR.

Rather than individually adding `${CMAKE_SOURCE_DIR}/Source` as
an include directory to each target, just use `include_directories` once
in the Tools directory and each subsequent target will have this
propagated down.
Also removed a seemingly unnecessary `-I` in LinuxEmulation--maybe
needed? But I can't test compilation right now as I don't have an ARM
development environment on hand for the next day or two.

CMake has had the `MINGW` builtin to describe MinGW targets since at
least version 3.2, so it can safely be used. This variable is also set
for the MSYS2 environments, so CLANGARM64 also correctly sets `MINGW`.
Note that this depends on https://github.com/FEX-Emu/jemalloc/pull/11.

This reverts commit e1a45a2720, reversing
changes made to bd7edd8651.
The change rendered pressure-vessel non-functional on muvm-based setups
like Fedora Asahi Remix.
rpmalloc is currently very aggressively configured which causes
significant reductions in resident memory over jemalloc.
In Bayonetta's title screen it went from 963MB down to 834MB resident.
We were failing to save the entire 64-bit register, cutting off the top
32-bits which contain SS and CS. This ...happened to not cause issues
but is a bug that I encountered with far jump handling.
This matches behaviour with the x86 host runner that RSP isn't
guaranteed to be set to a valid memory location. Make sure when running
tests on ARM that it gets the same behaviour.
Instead of keeping the vlaue as a string array in the MetaLayer, convert
the value to its final type once.
Improves performance in some hotpaths that were doing config based
string conversion in a relatively high frequency.
Now that all the threading behaviour has been correctly separated/moved
to the frontend, these functions serve no purpose.
- Instead of using RunUntilExit, all threads can use `ExecuteThread`
directly, since there's nothing special about the primary thread now.
- This also removes the public function definition of `ExecutionThread` since that was only used for threading logic.
- Instead of using an exit handler, just do the same cleanup after
`ExecuteThread` has returned.
- Just make gdbserver is cleaned up early if it exists since it may
want to send some things to the connected gdb instance before
threads are exited.
When writing `FEX_bugs/tls_vector_element.asm` I had to switch to using
GS segment instead of FS segment because the unittests didn't correctly
restore FS after running. This is because GS is unused on Linux
applications, but FS would become broken and break glibc cleanup on
shutdown.
Now that xbyak has been updated to v7.09, it now supports
{rd,wr}{fs,gs}base which allows us to save and restore the segments
correctly. This lets us drop in TLS tests in to unittests more easily
now.
Ensured this works by modifying the test temporarily to use fs instead
of gs again, seeing it crash before HostRunner changes, and work after
HostRunner changes.
Fixes#4104
Since the frontend has changed to informing the backend if AVX is
supported, there is no reason to feed that configuration back in to
SignalDelegator from the backend.
Instead inform the SignalDelegator directly in the frontend instead of
this now weird round-about path.
No functional change here.
- CoreRunningMode enum and variable wasn't used anymore.
- Code was moved to the frontend
- CustomCPUFactory wasn't used anymore
- All special signal handling and various features were moved to
TestHarnessRunner
- We also don't want to support actual custom CPU cores.
- TestHarnessRunner just runs as a host runner if compiled on an
x86-64 device if vixl sim isn't enabled now.
- Removes the Core config option entirely.
- Moves VDSOPointers struct to the frontend
- Every use of this lives in the Linux frontend instead now
The class constructor for ContextImpl::CPUID requires HostFeatures to be
available at construction time. Pass the host features struct directly
through during construction time instead, which cleans up the interface
slightly and fixes that issue.
These are only missing if using the hostrunner and the CI machine
doesn't support that particular feature. FEX otherwise always supports
these feature flags so they don't need to exist as options.
Just check the feature bit directly in the HostRunner frontend for these
bits.
This moves the CPU feature querying to the frontend. The primary purpose
here is for the wow64 frontend to not require linux-isms for querying
these features. This is required since non-Linux environments don't have
the "CPUID" feature for reading EL1 MSRs in EL0.
Wiring up the remaining wow64 registry querying is left for a future
exercise.
This also technically removes an xbyak requirement from FEXCore for when
building the x86 Test harness runner, but that doesn't really matter for
regular use cases.
Removes a global initializer and atexit registration
Ownership of this data has always been the frontend and the config
system, we just used these static vectors as a side-channel.
We never use more than one logging method at a time so this was
overengineered for what it is doing.
Instead only allow one handler for messages and throw messages each
which just is a pointer.
Removes a global initializer and an atexit handler being installed
The TestHarness infrastructure doesn't understand the difference between
converged versus split view.
So fetch the split view immediately and reconverge the view manually
inside of the state object so it continues working with the split ymm
view.
This is a different feature flag than regular AES as the default AES+AVX
only operates on 128-bit wide vectors.
With the newer `VAES` extension this is expanded to 256-bit.
A bit of refactoring necessary before we can move the remaining Linux
specific code to the frontend.
Most of this taken from #3535 but attempting to be NFC as much as
possible.
This is no longer necessary to be part of the public API. Moves the
header internally.
Needed to pass through `IsAddressInCodeBuffer` from CPUBackend through
the Context object, but otherwise no functional change.
FEXCore doesn't need track the TLS state of the SignalDelegator, this is
a frontend concept.
Removes the tracking from the backend and keeps it in the frontend.
